Improved hemodynamics with a novel chest compression device during treatment of inhospital cardiac arrest

چکیده
Introduction Previous research has shown that increased coronary perfusion pressure (CPP) during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) correlates with increased coronary blood flow and improved survival from sudden cardiac arrest. The purpose of this clinical study was to determine if a novel chest compression device (AutoPulse, Revivant Corp) improves hemodynamics during CPR when compared with manual chest compressions. The AutoPulse is an automated, electromechanical chest compression device that utilizes a load-distributing band to compress the anterior chest. AutoPulse automatically adjusts to the size and shape of each patient.

Improved hemodynamic performance with a novel chest compression device during treatment of in-hospital cardiac arrest.
INTRODUCTION The purpose of this pilot clinical study was to determine if a novel chest compression device would improve hemodynamics when compared to manual chest compression during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in humans. The device is an automated self-adjusting electromechanical chest compressor based on AutoPulse technology (Revivant Corporation) that uses a load distributing compres...

OBJECTIVES The goal of this study was to determine the magnitude and mechanisms of hemodynamic improvement of an automated, load-distributing band device (AutoPulse, Revivant Corp., Sunnyvale, California) compared with conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (C-CPR). BACKGROUND Improved blood flow during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) enhances survival from cardiac arrest. METHODS A...
متن کاملFuture Treatment of Acute Cardiac Collapse - A Role for Percutaneous Circulatory Assist Devices
1.1 Acute cardiac collapse Patients with cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest still have a very poor prognosis despite recent improvements in treatment algorithms. Acute coronary ischemia and myocardial infarction (AMI) is the most frequent cause of cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest. Improved survival has been shown for patients with AMI treated with urgent coronary revascularization. Also, ...
متن کاملRole of percutaneous left ventricular assist devices in preventing cerebral ischemia
Percutaneous left ventricular assist devices improve hemodynamics in acute heart failure. The devices can be deployed rapidly and with a low risk of complications, and may thereby offer potential advantages compared with surgical assist systems in the critically ill. Cerebral hypoperfusion with cerebral injury is a major challenge in acutely ill cardiac patients, especially when cardio–pulmonar...
متن کاملA feasibility study of cerebral oximetry during in-hospital mechanical and manual cardiopulmonary resuscitation*.
OBJECTIVE A major hurdle limiting the ability to improve the quality of resuscitation has been the lack of a noninvasive real-time detection system capable of monitoring the quality of cerebral and other organ perfusion, as well as oxygen delivery during cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Here, we report on a novel system of cerebral perfusion targeted resuscitation. DESIGN An observational study...
